Dear Parents and Carers,

Well done to our children for another wonderful sports day, team work and showing our values of courage and aspiration! A special mention to Yellow House - Beecroft - our overall winners! Thank you to our families for supporting us by coming to watch, cheering the children on, joining parent and toddler races, visiting the PCA refreshment stall and lending us gazebos. Thank you to the PCA volunteers for running the refreshment stall and tuck shop too.

On Tuesday our school was visited by the Local Authority for KS2 SATS Writing Moderation - this is a standard procedure that usually takes place every four years to validate our judgements of writing in Year 6. Well done to all of our Kestrels class for their hard work over the year, they produced some fantastic pieces of creative and informative writing, and the moderators commended us on the presentation in our books several times. They were very impressed by the standard of writing produced and we're looking forward to sharing their outcomes with you later this year.

On Monday we are expecting the Phonics Screening Check pass mark to be announced, and will write to parents of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils who took the PSC to share their results. We are also expected the Multiplication Tables Check results to be announced and will share those with Year 4 parents.

On Thursday we held a Reception intake information evening, and welcomed many new faces to the school. We are looking forward to our next transition dates and Stay and Play sessions with the children - thank you for joining us.

Next week we have another sporty week planned - many children are attending the athletics events at Montsaye on Monday - please arrive at school at the usual time wearing PE kit - remember a hat, water bottle and sun cream!

On Tuesday a small group of children are also attending a Quad Kids event - we will share photos and a reflection next week!

In the upcoming warmer weather please ensure your child comes to school wearing sun cream, and has more to reapply throughout the day. Please also include a summer hat and refillable water bottle for them, and sunglasses if they wish. We have noticed a small number of children wearing jumpers or hoodies - our classrooms get warm very quickly and we do not have much shade on the field - children will not need a jumper or cardigan in school next week. Older children may bring some roll on (not spray) deodorant to refresh throughout the day if they wish.

We will adopt a flexible unform policy throughout the heatwave - children should wear either their usual summer uniform or PE kit every day. Shoes must be closed-toe for safety. Children should not wear a vest or t shirt base layer. For those with sensory sensitivities - polo shirts or t shirts can be plain, sky blue in colour and do not need to include the embroidered logo. Shorts should be appropriate for school - navy blue, tailored or PE shorts or blue gingham checked (summer dress style) shorts.
