Inside Rushton - 10.07.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am always very proud to say I work at Rushton School, and this week has been no exception. However, I have been reflecting on how fortunate I am to be part of such an incredible team of dedicated staff, families and pupils.

Our children have shown great resilience and energy this week, working hard in a very warm environment. Many of our Kestrels class attended a Kwik Cricket event at Northamptonshire cricket ground, and our Year 6 team came second overall – a real testament to their teamwork, sportsmanship and effective leadership from the captain.

We have also thoroughly enjoyed watching our performing arts club production of Matilda the Musical – a culmination of the whole academic year’s work. The children have dedicated three to four lunch times per week over the year to put together a truly incredible performance, as I’m sure every audience member will agree. In their second show, the children were not wobbled by some sound and technical difficulties and continued to perform with professionalism and fantastic stage presence. I was truly blown away. We have some very talented singers and performers in our school, and it was amazing to see them in the spotlight. I would like to offer a huge thank you to Miss Padgett, who has single-handedly put the production together!

We have also had a whole school rehearsal of our country dancing – the children have had to learn their dances very quickly due to the intense heat limiting how often we can practice, and they’re doing incredibly well. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you next week.

As we near the end of term, pre-loved school uniform will be available free of charge after school over the next few weeks – please do help yourself as we have far more than we can store! Spare jumpers are always very useful. Please ensure you have re- labelled any uniform so it can be easily returned to you if lost.

We have a number of hats without a home! These will be left on the Keter storage outside the hall at the end of the day, please keep checking!

The hot weather is set to continue into next week – please do keep sending your child to school wearing sun cream and with spare to reapply, with a hat and water bottle. Please do not send any jumpers, cardigans or hoodies in as these are not necessary. We will continue to offer breaks, ice poles and water trays to keep the children cool. Small fans are permitted as is PE kit.

Next week will be the last week for our after-school clubs. Please ensure you have booked in to Rhino in the final week of term if you require childcare. Please can all phonics and reading books be returned to school by Friday 17th July.

Next Friday is our PCA summer fayre – please arrive at school before 1.55pm for country dancing at 2pm. The summer fayre will follow dancing. There will be lots of stalls and activities to take part in; the funds raised during the fayre make a huge difference to our school so please do take part. Thank you for the donations received so far and to the volunteers who are helping on the day.
