Inside Rushton - 03.07.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a fantastic week in school and enjoyed lots of activities across the classes.

Today, Squirrels visited Wollaton Hall as part of their Ancient Greece topic, where the children took part in a mask-making workshop. The group leader told us that Squirrels have been the best class he’s taught; they were enthusiastic, engaged and very polite. Badgers visited the pocket park to learn about the changing seasons – they even found a grass snake!  

Yesterday we were visited by the fire service, and each class had a talk about the role of the emergency services, how to stay safe and saw a fast-response fire car. A group of children from Kestrels attended the Quadkids finals in Moulton and were incredible representatives for our school, showing great sportsmanship.

On Tuesday evening three of our Year 6 children attended the Symphony Trust Awards, where Dylan achieved the commitment to learning in Computing award, Florence was awarded for her commitment to learning in RE, and Sienna was commended for her overall attitude and commitment to learning in all subjects – a very competitive award across the Trust! Congratulations to all three, it was a superb and enjoyable evening, and I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with you.

Hedgehogs have been learning about coral reefs and have made their own miniature coral using pasta and clay. They have been very creative and careful with their designs.

Monday 6th July is Transition Day – please see the attached letter for further details about class staffing. Please note – registration times will be as usual on Monday. I am aware that England are playing in the early hours but there will be no adjustments to school timings to reflect this. On Friday we have a mufti day to gather bottle donations for the summer fayre please.

Next week we are expecting warmer weather again – please ensure children are wearing suncream and have additional in school. They should all have a hat and water bottle in school and can bring a second if they wish. Small fans are permitted if used sensibly.

Please can I reiterate the need for responsible driving and parking in the village – our neighbours are very patient and understanding of the increased traffic at school times, but please ensure you do not block driveways under any circumstances.
