Inside Rushton - 09.10.26

Dear Families,

Earlier this week many of our Key Stage 2 children took part in a cross-country event at Rothwell Junior School. We came home with four medals, and staff from other schools commented on our children’s excellent manners and behaviour; they were fabulous representatives for our school.

Next week we have a jam-packed week! We are beginning our 135-year celebrations tomorrow with our Scarecrow festival – please do pop along and see our offerings! If your family, club, group or friendship circle with to enter a scarecrow there is still time - please bring them to school tomorrow morning to be entered!

The Book Fair will be in school from Tuesday to Friday, after school in the hall. Please note, it is card payment only. Supporting the Book Fair raises much-needed funds to keep our classroom libraries updated and fresh.

On Monday and Thursday we are holding Parents’ Evenings - if you have not booked, please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss how your child has settled and their progress.

We will be supporting the Poppy Appeal in school all week and various items will be available for sale after school every day.

On Friday, we have a dinosaur experience day and we are having a surprise visit by Reggie and Trixie, two animatronic dinosaurs! Children are invited to attend school in dinosaur, explorer or palaeontologist-themed outfits and we will enjoy a range of themed activities throughout the day.

Our attendance figures have dropped this week, this is particularly due to a number of unauthorised holidays. Please check our term dates online before booking any holidays – 10 unauthorised absences in a 10-week period must be referred to the Local Authority to issue a penalty notice. Each session (am/pm) counts as one absence, so a 5-day holiday will result in a fine.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Scarecrow Festival!

Best wishes,

Miss Hannant
