Inside Rushton - 24.07.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we draw the 2025-2026 academic year to a close, I would like to wish our Year 6 a very fond farewell; you have been superstars throughout your time at Rushton and you are a brilliant group of children who work hard and play hard! We all wish you all the luck in the world in your next adventures – we know you’ll continue to be the wonderful people you are and love whatever life brings for you next. Have an amazing summer and please do stay in touch and let us know how you’re getting on in your new schools!

Today we also say goodbye and thank you to Mr O’Donnell, who I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing all the best in his next steps. We will miss him – although the staff will be grateful to not have to race him to the biscuit tin if they need a sweet treat!

To the rest of our children and families, I would like to say a huge thank you for your engagement, encouragement and partnership over the last year. Rushton is a very special school with a strong community spirit and sense of belonging - long may it continue!

On behalf of all the staff, thank you for our end-of-year cards and gifts, we are very grateful and humbled by the care and thanks you have extended to us.

If you haven't yet signed up to Reach More Parents and/or ParentPay, please could I encourage you to do so before we return in September as we won't be using either Bromcom or MCAS from the start of the new school year. If you have any technical issues, the office will be open on Tuesday 1st September and we will do our best to assist.

Can I also remind you that the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals for September 2026 onwards has changed, and we encourage all families to check if they are eligible, and apply for September 2026 under the new guidance, via https://www.northnorthants.gov.uk/parent-portal We recommend all parents and carers currently receiving Universal Credit to apply as soon as possible in order to a. ensure records are up to date and entitlements can be assessed correctly and b. give more time for applications to be processed, ensuring that eligible children receive free school meals from the start of the new school year.

We wish you all a fantastic summer with your families, and we are looking forward to welcoming Years 1-6 back on Thursday 3rd September. Reception will start with on Monday 7th September.
