I can't believe we're already half way through the academic year!
Our children continue to wow us with their hard work, resilience and determination. We've been working on our routines this week and reminding children to walk quietly through school and remain in their line spaces, as well as using kind hands, kind feet and kind words. Staff are promoting positive choices and wanted behaviours by giving out house points to those seen doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time. Wetherall (Red House) and Tresham (Blue House) have filled their house point jars this week and the school council will gather reward suggestions from each class next week. Beecroft (Yellow House) are very, very close to filling their jar and have been given the challenge to each earn 3 house points next week!
We had a visit from our Parish Councillor Mike Brightman this week to discuss traffic calming measures in and around the village. Mike also donated an incredible hand- drawn map of Rushton by Melanie Hubbard, on behalf of the Parish Council. It has been placed in our main corridor and I've seen lots of children looking for our school and their houses this week. Thank you to Mike and Rushton Parish Council for your lovely gift.
Please find the attached online safety newsletter with this week's newsletter. It contains useful tips and advice for parents about the use of TikTok, AI image alterations and a range of other resources around screen time balance, apps for parents and an update from the Children's Commissioner. Please do take the time to read it and familiarise yourself with the content. We will soon be launching an app for our parents that replicates social media, but contains verified facts and is a safe source of information about issues that may affect our youngsters, pitched at an age appropriate level for our Key Stage 2 pupils. All content is scripted, fact-checked and acted by young actors, making it an approachable and engaging resource to share with your child if you wish to. More information and how to access will follow soon.
We have a couple of bugs being passed through school at the minute and today I reminded the children about the importance of washing their hands regularly, particularly before eating and after coughing, sneezing or using the toilet, as well as using and disposing of tissues and flushing the toilet after use. Please continue to promote good hygiene at home to help us minimise the spread! May I please remind you that the children cannot have cough sweets in school, but we are able to provide a dose of over the counter pain relief if required, with parental consent.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Hannant
