Inside Rushton - 19.12.25

What a fantastic, busy term we've enjoyed together! This week we've enjoyed so many festivities; The Christmas Pantomime at the theatre, a visit from Santa, class parties, a Christmas singalong at the church, a welly walk around the village and a surprise visit from The Grinch at lunch! It's been a very magical month here at Rushton and I would like to thank everyone for their encouragement, engagement and positivity over the last term. My first Christmas at Rushton has been a really heart-warming experience, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this lovely community.

I'd like to thank you on behalf of the staff team for the cards, gifts and well-wishes we've received this week, we've been blown away by your generosity and the personal messages and thank yous mean the world to us. The staffroom has been a delicious pantry of goodies too and we've very much enjoyed the treats, so thank you for those too!

Our first visit to the Royal & Derngate Theatre to watch Peter Pan was a real highlight this week, the children were very enthusiastically involved and there were smiles and cheers all round. Several staff members from the theatre commented on their excellent behaviour, manners and tidiness too, so they really shone a positive light on our school. We're already looking ahead to next year's production, watch this space for more information in the new year! It was a wonderful day out together and a very engaging performance.

On Wednesday we had a very special visitor during our class parties. Santa came to see us and shared stories with each class. He also solved the mystery of the crashed sleigh, as lots of children asked him about it - it was, indeed, the cheeky elves as suspected! He reassured our children he has a new sleigh being built and it will be ready in time for Christmas. He also confirmed all the children had made it on to the nice list, although he said some of the staff were 'a bit iffy' so they've been trying extra hard this week!

We've also enjoyed a Christmas singalong at the church yesterday, as well as a welly walk around Rushton Hall grounds today, topped off with an unwelcome visit from The Grinch at lunch time today! So a very busy week all round, and we'll all be looking forward to a rest, Christmas film and hot chocolate this weekend!

Thank you to our volunteers who help to plan and organise the exciting and enriching activities that our children enjoy, as well as supporting with learning in school, the families that nurture and encourage their children, our wonderful pupils who work hard, look after each other and are so welcoming, and of course, the incredible staff team who go above and beyond every single day to provide an engaging, supportive, exciting and safe place for our children to learn and grow. I am very grateful for their positivity, collaboration and enthusiasm that makes Rushton the best school it can be.
