Inside Rushton - 17.04.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school for our final term of the academic year! This year has flown by and we're looking forward to a busy summer term together.

Thursday was National Primary School Offer Day and we're delighted to welcome 15 new Hedgehogs to Rushton in September. We will shortly be sending a welcome pack with our transition arrangements and next steps - please ensure you have accepted your place via the portal.

Yesterday saw our first Rushton's Got Talent show, and it was a huge success! We enjoyed a variety of acts, including cheerleading, poetry, instrumentals, dancing, singing, magic, poi balls and cup flipping! A huge congratulations to everyone that took part, for your excellent performances, your courage, resilience and determination. There were smiles all round (from our acts and the audience!) Our fabulous judges had a really tough job selecting our final three, and the scoring was very close. A special mention to our finalists - Isla, Mattea and Lucia, and our winner, Junior. We are already looking forward to another evening of entertainment with our young artists next year!

Badgers have practised their Phonics Screening Check this week and are making excellent progress. We will be sending home some sound and words flash cards for our focus sounds next week - please keep reading, highlighting segmenting and blending skills at home as often as possible.

Year 4 have also had a practise Multiplication Tables Check and have demonstrated some super skills - please keep using Times Tables Rock Stars on the timed session to ensure they are familiar with the format. Well done everyone - we're very proud of you!

Year 6 will shortly be sitting their SATS - they're working very hard in school and during Boost sessions - please keep working through the revision booklets at home and have a look on BBC bitesize for further support. Keep it up - you're amazing!

Hedgehogs are enjoying their new learning environment, particularly their role-play farm shop and calm tent- thank you to Miss Fogell & Mrs Hackett for spending your half term adapting the classroom!

Next week the school nursing team are offering a drop in session on Tuesday afternoon, Badgers are visiting Mini Meadows Farm and Kestrels girls are attending the Cricket T20 - let's hope for lots of sunshine!
