Dear Parents and Carers,
😀We've had a brilliant first 'full' week back to school and been impressed by the children's enthusiasm for learning. We kick-started our new topics this week and the children have enjoyed learning about the Victorians, the 1950s and Volcanoes& Earthquakes. Our curriculum overviews for parents will be sent out next week.
💫Each class has represented their school council representatives. Miss Appleyard will be meeting the council team next Friday to gather the children's views and is looking forward to working with them this academic year. Well done to all for your excellent pitches to your classes!
💖We have been reminding children about using their manners as they move through school, and reinforcing our expectations. Each week one adult acts as a 'secret agent' and finds out from other staff who has been saying please and thank you, holding doors open or helping others unprompted. This week Dylan W was recognised as our polite champion, and recognised for his excellent manners in both wraparound club and the classroom. Well done Dylan!
🍎May I remind parents and carers that snacks for break time should be fruit, vegetables or cheese. Please avoid cereal bars or processed foods where possible, in line with our Healthy Schools initiative. Please see below for suggested lunch box ideas that have been provided by Healthy Schools.
👚Please can you check that your child's uniform is named, particularly jumpers and cardigans. They are often removed at play and lunch times and it can be very time consuming to match left jumpers back to children when they are not labelled.
📆Our future dates list shared last week has been updated with Autumn parents' evening dates and a Year 5/6 trip - please see below for details.
📖Please continue to read with your child at least 5 times per week, and practice number bonds, times tables and arithmetic skills each week - it really does make a difference to their learning!
Thank you, as ever, for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Hannant
