Inside Rushton - 06.03.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

We've had a brilliant week celebrating our love of reading! Thank you for your support with our various events on World Book Day this Thursday. We saw some brilliant outfits and our pupils really enjoyed sharing their books with children from different classes, talking about what they love and finding texts related to their hobbies and interests. Lots of staff took children to different areas of the school in the afternoon to share their favourite picture books, and children were acting out stories and discussing texts all around school. Badgers made chocolate krispie cakes, inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Kestrels used sports equipment to invent their own Olympic events, inspired by Miss Trunchbull from Matilda. It was such an enjoyable day and hopefully your children have come home with a new book or author they've been inspired to read! Thank you to Nichola and Rachel who organised and ran the PCA Wonder Bar event, inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and to everyone that donated a book to give away as a prize on World Book Day. We're always looking for donations to extend our class libraries, so if you have any books suitable for ages 4-12 please drop them off at the school office. We are also promoting the Sponsored Read, organised by Usborne books, that will also contribute to new books for our libraries, so please do get involved if you haven't already. Sponsorship will continue this week, and we will let you know our total fundraised amount once all donations are in! Thank you for your continued support with our charitable events, it really does make such a difference to our school.

On Friday, we celebrated Careers Day. Our children took turns to share their ideal career and aspirations within classes, and a number of children then shared their goals in our celebration assembly. Lots of children in Hedgehogs enjoyed dressing up as their chosen professional for Wild Friday too!

Looking ahead - Friday 20th March is Red Nose Day for Comic relief - children are invited to wear something read (non-uniform day) for a £1 donation. A letter will follow next week.

Tuesday 24th March is our Easter Bonnet Parade -all children are invited to create an Easter Bonnet. For those that are able to watch us, we will walk around the village at 9.15 before attending an Easter service at the church (pupils and staff only in church).
